The Austin trio Greyhounds have always had an affinity for the soul music from Memphis. On Cheyenne Valley Drive they wanted to directly capture the Bluff City’s vibe by recording at the newly refurbished Sam Phillips Recording Studio. Their previous album was tracked at the city’s famous Ardent Studios. With acclaimed engineer Matt Ross-Spang, they wanted a less produced, spontaneous, direct to tape recording.

Scouring thrift shops for decades-old keyboards and $100-or-less guitars, the Austin-based duo of Andrew Trube and Anthony Farrell has always had a sweet spot for old things, whether they're old instruments or old sounds that spring to life on debut album Accumulator (out April 8 on Ardent Music).
Accumulator is a musical stockpile of their favorite genres including soul, funk and R&B, with songs reminiscent of The Meters, Earl Hooker and Buck Owens. "It's a mixture of what me and Andrew are into," Farrell says. "We just tried to blend that in a bunch of different ways and create something out of it."
